Her sculptures exaggerate the human body with a different theme in each piece of art.
Mona Heikal is an award winning sculpturist and graduate from Helwan University’s sculpture department. Heikal’s work is contemporary and organic, focusing on both objects and figures, her sculptures exaggerate the human body with a different theme in each piece of art. Whether that is family, friendship, the female body, or the beauty of everyday objects, Heikal creates seamless sculptures to convey each story. She participated in workshops at the Aswan International Symposium and successfully completed her first solo exhibition, entitled ‘Follow Your Path’ at the Faculty of Fine Arts exhibition hall at Helwan University in 2018. She earned the Ziad Bakir award for her most recent participation in the 29th edition of the Youth Salon, and the following year, 2019, was her most successful year yet.
She participated in both solo and group exhibitions of her work at Motion Art Gallery, Magdoub Art Gallery, and Khan Almaghraby Art gallery. Heikal’s solo exhibition, ‘between land and water’ juxtaposed the curves and softness of the ocean with the sturdiness and stability of land into her sculptures. In that same year, Heikal participated in the Adam Henein Prize Sculpture Exhibition at Hanager Art Hall within the Cairo Opera House. She participated with several other galleries in Cairo from 2020 to 2022, finishing off 2022 successfully with a first place award at the Farouk Hosni Foundation for sculpture of the year.
